- Many of the alfalfa varieties that are developed for the use in the Midwest and Northeast United States were screened for nematode tolerance in the Centers alfalfa nurseries.
- NCROC is a leader in researching the environmental safety and economics of utilizing by-products from wood products companies and municipal waste programs.
- NCROC scientists have provided leadership to rural community development efforts through the Small Business Retention and Expansion (SBRE) program and promotion of tourism and travel related economic development activities.
- NCROC's horticulture research programs provide improved varieties and management technologies that provide an increasing variety of safe and healthy foods. Blueberry and strawberry varieties developed by NCROC and other University scientists in collaboration with public and private partners are among the main varieties grown in Minnesota and the upper Midwest.
